Frustrations – Find out what bothers your target customers using ChatGPT

by | May 16, 2023

Back in the 2000s?

Apple recognized a common frustration shared by millions.

The clunky, unreliable nature of portable music players.

And what did they create?

The iPod.

Forever changing the way people listened to music.

But it started with one thing.

A COMMON FRUSTRATION.

If you can find out your customers’ frustrations, you can truly create something meaningful.

Now, the question is…

How do you find out your customers’ frustrations?

The good ol’ customer research.

But there’s another way as well.

ChatGPT. (Yes!)

And today I’m bringing in the big AI guns i.e. ChatGPT to help you out.

This is something that I’ve been testing for weeks for multiple niches & industries.

But first…

⚠️ A Word of Warning

This is not a replacement for traditional customer research and having real conversations with your customers & ideal customers.

What I’m sharing is going to complement it.

Also, if you’re an early-stage business and don’t have any customers to talk to, this would give you a good starting point.

Are we clear on that?

Great.

Now, let’s move on to the…

🤖 ChatGPT Prompt

Here’s the prompt:

As an expert in target customer research, your task is to identify 10 detailed frustrations that [Target Customers] have related to [Topic]. Your response should provide vivid and specific descriptions of each frustration, highlighting the pain points experienced by the target customers.

Please ensure that each frustration is unique and provides relevant details about the challenges faced by the target customers. You may use examples or anecdotes to illustrate these frustrations, but please make sure they are based on real-world experiences.

Your response should be structured and easy to read, with clear headings for each frustration. Please also include a brief explanation of why each frustration is important and how it affects the target customers’ experience.

Finally, please note that you should focus on providing realistic and actionable frustrations rather than generic complaints.

You just have to add your [target customer] and [Topic].

Do not change any other word in the prompt as it has been optimized for the best output.

Also, don’t forget the word “please”.
Gotta keep our AI friends happy for when they finally take over.

Now, let’s look at a…

🧐 Live Example

Let’s say you have a brand that sells makeup removal thingey or whatever.

Here’s what you’d enter in ChatGPT:

Prompt example

The result?

Be prepared to get your mind blown.

Here it is:

ChatGPT results

But it’s not over yet.

Once, you have a list, type another prompt “continue” and you’d have more frustrations.

ChatGPT more results

You have to do this 3-4 times until you start getting repetitive responses.

🤔 What Now?

Use these frustrations to create your marketing content.

YouTube videos. Blog posts. IG reels. TikToks. Emails.

Address them in your sales page copy.

Your messaging would directly hit your target audience exactly where it needs to.

Because getting rid of frustrations is in our human nature. We crave it.

And hence, your marketing will be more effective.

I’m also testing the use of AI for sentiment analysis, pattern finding, etc… and I’ll share it with you once I’m fully convinced that it works exactly how I want it to.

Meanwhile, use this prompt and let me know your thoughts by hitting the reply button.
